I have always been an explorer, a traveler and lover of different cultures and different places.
It all started as a kid. Living in the middle of the US (I grew up in Memphis), we were in a great position to travel to all parts of the country. My parents were big on road trips, and we would hop into our trusty station wagon and explore the open road. I remember an amazing lobster feast in Maine, sand dollar hunting in Florida, the wonders of the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone, and the thrill of skiing in the mountains of Colorado.
Between high school and college I lived in France for a summer, which kicked off my international wanderlust. In my early 20s, my friends and I explored Europe for 2 weeks - and I was hooked. Travel took all my extra money. In my late 20s I was able to take a 6 week trip to Australia and New Zealand. And after grad school, I took advantage of my freedom from the standard "2 week vacation allotment" and embarked on a 2 month trip through Europe. My 30s ushered in trips to South America, Africa and Asia. My 40s were all about parenthood, but I didn't let that stop me! My daughter traveled to Japan with me when she was 4 yrs old and to Italy when she was 6 yrs old. COVID put a temporary hold on our international travels, but we have really embraced our home state of Colorado (and the surrounding states), and have loved taking in all they have to offer.
My camera has been my steady companion through all my travels. I absolutely adore capturing the people, scenes and cultures of everywhere I go - and you will see that reflected in my photo collections.
And, over the years, I have had the honor to be recognized for my photography work. I have received awards in several competitions, including the Siena International Photo Awards ( SIPA), the Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest, the SOHO Photo Gallery National Competition, and Marin Museum of Contemporary Art. Additionally, I have been published on National Geographic's Daily Dozen and in several print magazines including Click. I have also has shown my work in several gallery settings.
